Getting Started

1.We would highly recommend that you read through our Frequently Asked Questions page which should answer any questions you may have. Any questions you may have after that, please just ask, we are here to help.

2. Our team can’t wait to show you our Americana themed restaurant and heated outside events marquee with riverside views, so that you can picture your dream alternative wedding with us. We would love to talk to you about your wedding, get to know you as a couple, what your vision is and how we can help you achieve it. All weddings at Iron Horse Ranch House are unique to the couples that choose us to host their special day. We want our place to feel like your home on your special day. So please give us a call, email or use our contact us form to book a visit.

3. During the initial meeting, our venue wedding co-ordinator will find out about your vision for your perfect day and show you the venue. They will show you our ready to go packages, sample menus, recommended suppliers and entertainment options. Nothing needs to be confirmed in stone until the month before.

4. Once we have found out exactly what your dream day will look like, then we will put together a personalised proposal. Our team will draw up a draft contract and send this to you along with a copy of our booking terms and conditions.

When you are happy with your contract, a final copy will be sent to you along with an invoice for your booking deposit of £1,000 + VAT. Your booking will be confirmed when we receive your signed contract and the booking deposit.

After booking your wedding day, our experienced team will work within your timescale to help you plan your perfect day. This may include arranging menu taster experiences and meeting with your chosen suppliers to ensure that your special day runs smoothly.

On the day our  venue wedding co-ordinator will be on hand throughout the day, if you need help adjusting the cake, flower crowns or have a dress emergency our team are here to help. If you would like to hire a Wedding Planner/Co-ordinator we will be happy to work alongside them to create your magical day. 

Wedding Insurance
We recommend that all couples arrange adequate wedding insurance. This is easily achieved using one of the many generic wedding insurance packages available. This will cover you for many possible unforeseen circumstances.

Venue Hire - What's Included

2. During Your Wedding

Iron Horse Ranch House is a functioning restaurant and bar, depending on your budget we can provide
access to our main restaurant, events marque or both for exclusive hire. All packages include the following:

  • Riverside views
  • Motorcycle parking area – access for bridal cars, disabled parking and suppliers can be arranged
  • Fully Licensed Main restaurant bar, Tikki Bar or both depending on your booking.
  • Toilets including disabled toilet and baby changing facilities
  • Undressed Rectangle tables and limewash Chiavari chairs with comfortable seat pads
  • Rustic wooden barrels and bar stools
  • A venue wedding co-ordinator and professional friendly event staff
  • Lighting, including disco lights throughout the venue although you may wish to add additional lighting
    to create the atmosphere of your dreams.
  • Any other props around the venue.

‘Til Death Do Us Party

If you are looking for the full traditional wedding schedule, then all day hire is the
package for you. With access to the whole venue all day, you will have plenty of time for your ceremony, drinks reception, wedding breakfast, speeches, first dance, cake cutting, photographs and entertainment.

Timings can be fitted around the activities of the day. 



If you are thinking of departing from the traditional wedding schedule and have a
shorter wedding, then a twilight wedding is for you. The essential steps of a wedding are still included. With a twilight wedding there is enough time for a late afternoon ceremony, drinks reception, cake cutting, evening food and dancing.

Access for you and your guests from 4pm – Midnight.


Let’s Party

Want to celebrate with your friends and family without all the traditional parts of a wedding? Then a party is the way to go. There will be enough time to eat, drink and dance the night away, you can still cut your cake, have a first dance, even do the speeches if you really want to.

Iron Horse Ranch House is an established American style restaurant and bar, when it comes to delicious home cooked food, we know what we are talking about. After all, the one thing people remember at weddings is the food. Our help yourself buffet style food packages are aimed at keeping your wedding day relaxed and informal, whilst our drinks packages are there to get the party started. We pride ourselves in catering for all dietary requirements including: vegetarian, vegan and gluten free.

Little Black Book - Recommended Suppliers

We have a little black book of recommended suppliers, with whom we work frequently and in whose quality and
level of service we have every confidence. If you would prefer to source your own suppliers, you will need to ensure that they hold a minimum of £5 million public liability insurance. There may be a surcharge to Iron Horse Ranch House for using your own suppliers.

What is the maximum capacity that you can cater for?

The maximum capacity for the main restaurant is 53 people seated, in our outdoor events marquee the capacity is 80 people seated. However, we can cater for up to 100 guests inside and 250 guests outside standing. Please bear in mind that our car park is for motorcycles only, limited parking for the bride & groom, suppliers and disabled guests can be made available on request. Guest parking can be found locally although there are time limits in place in certain areas.

Can we have a bespoke marquee layout?

Our outdoor events marquee has a large flexible space that can be sectioned to create break off areas. One of the added advantages of having your event at Iron Horse Ranch House the large amount of outside space that can be used for multiple activities therefore, we can create areas within the overall space which might be used for children’s play areas or a chill out zone or a separate area for the bar. Don’t forget the space backs onto the river for photographs. Our friendly experienced team will guide you through all the options.

What are the catering options?

We can provide catering in house, keeping with the relaxed informal theme, we can offer grazing platters, pulled baps, nachos or hot dogs. We can cater for vegan and vegetarians and dietary requirements too.

Should you wish to use your own caterers, they will need to have £5 million public liability insurance and also a 5 star food hygiene certificate. Use of your own caterer will incur a £500 a day service surcharge to Iron Horse Ranch House. We require will require a disclaimer to be displayed to guests of the event to ensure it is clear that the food was not provided by Blue Ridge Holdings T/A Iron Horse Ranch House. We accept no liability for any food and drink supplied by an alternative caterer.

Can we have fireworks during our event?

As we are positioned in a residential area with lots of local wildlife, we cannot allow fireworks. We will consider sparklers display, but please note that the use of sky lanterns or similar is strictly forbidden.​

Is it possible to see the venue before I book?

Yes, you are very welcome to book a visit to our venue. Please send us a request indicating your preferred times for a visit and we will propose some dates.

Can I see the venue with all the lights switched on?

Yes, ask us to schedule your visit in the evening, when the internal lights and lights in the grounds will be visible.

Is there accommodation onsite for me and my guests?   

Iron Horse Ranch House does not offer overnight accommodation; however, we can recommend places to stay locally where you can get ready the night before and stay the night of your wedding. Please visit ‘Our Place’ for a list of places to stay nearby.​

Can I leave my car in the car park overnight?

Yes, the bride & groom’s car is welcome to be left in our car park overnight to aid setting up and packing away. Other cars will need to be park in the local area where time limits apply.

Do you have toilets or will we need to hire them in?

We are a functioning restaurant and bar therefore use of our toilet facilities is included in the venue hire.

Is Iron Horse Ranch House wheelchair accessible? 

Yes, we have two disabled parking spaces and disabled toilet facilities. The paths to the marquee are suitable for wheelchairs and the marquee floor is flat. We have ramps to access inside the main restaurant.

Do you have baby changing facilities? 

Yes, the toilets include a baby changing area.

Do you accept bank cards at the bar? 

Yes, card payments are preferred at both bars.

Do you allow confetti?  

Confetti in the form of real dried flower petals or biodegradable paper is allowed in the event area. Guests are asked to keep all confetti away from the river as this may harm the fish and other wildlife. Bubbles are preferred and encouraged!

Can you recommend a local taxi company?

Yes, phone numbers of local companies are available on request.  

Can we take your signs off the walls?

​Our décor is what makes us unique, it’s very much part of our venue’s character and charm. We are unable to remove the majority of our signs, however you are welcome to cover them at your own cost. Talk to us and we will do our best to accommodate your request.

Does your outside events area have heating?

Yes, we have heaters in our outside marquee, however it is an open space so we would advise asking your guests to bring a jacket or your welcome to provide blankets etc. We cannot allow fire pits due to health and safety reasons.

Are you dog friendly?

Yes, we understand that your four-legged family members are an important part of your life. If you want to invite them to your celebration that’s fine by us. We will have a bowl of water and some treats waiting for them.


Wedding FAQs

Can we have a civil ceremony at Iron Horse Ranch House?

No, Iron Horse Ranch House is not licensed for civil ceremonies. You are welcome to have a blessing/celebrant wedding, however you will need to go to the registry office to do the legal bit before or after your ‘Wedding Day’. We work with brilliant local celebrants who can talk you through the process to ensure your day is unique to you.

Can we have exclusive use of the venue for our wedding day?

Yes, although Iron Horse Ranch House is a functioning restaurant and bar, we can offer exclusive hire of the site or discuss a more flexible offering for twilight weddings. The venue can be accessed from 4pm the day before, we ask that everything is collected by 12noon the day after to allow us to use the space for the general public.

Can we supply our own wine and drinks for our wedding?

We are a fully licensed venue with two bars on site. You are welcome to bring your own however there is a corkage surcharge of £10 per bottle opened to Iron Horse Ranch House. Licensing rules still apply with regards to Challenge 25. Further information on this will be provided by our wedding planner at your initial meeting. We offer drink packages that can be tailored to your taste.

Can we bring our own sweet treats?

Yes, you are welcome to bring your own sweets for jars, doughnuts for walls, crisps for pallet walls, goodie bags for the kids. We can also arrange for these to be included as part of your catering package if required.

Are we allowed to have candles?

We have a lot of wood on site so only LED candles are allowed. Unless they are being used as a symbol in the wedding ceremony, if they are for use throughout the evening they would need to be changed to LED for safety.

Do you have a room for the bride to use to get ready?

Unfortunately, we do not have the facilities to offer a specific rest room for the bride.

Who will be present from Iron Horse Ranch House on our wedding day?

Your venue wedding coordinator will be present along with the waiting and bar staff if required. The number of waiting and bar staff will depend on your wedding day requirements. Events over 100 people may require additional door staff at an additional cost, this will be discussed during your booking meeting.

Can we organise our own DJ or entertainment?

Yes, as we are an established music venue we can recommend various DJs, Singers, Bands to cater for all musical styles. However, it would be down to you to book these acts and pay for them additionally to our agreed contract. We do have strict licensed times and DB levels for live music outside, please speak to your venue wedding coordinator about this.

Can we have access to the venue on the day before our event?

Yes, we are very much a DIY wedding venue so we can provide access to the venue the day before to dress the space from 4pm. If you would prefer for your suppliers to dress the venue for you, we can provide access for them and our venue wedding co-ordinator will work with them to make sure your vision comes to life. Timings will need to be confirmed a month before.
